In the March 23 issue of the journal Nature, researchers from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Tokyo propose a means of tracking flu strain mutations based on the differences between cell receptors in human and bird respiratory systems and how they affect the H5N1 strain’s ability to allow human-to-human transmission.
