The Idea

Originally I wanted to simply add the current Alerts (without writing anything else). However, there is a need I think to have a blog which looks at the facts through the eyes of ordinary people.

Example: when Bird Flu came to Germany where I live, I found that the news reports did not help us as a family to know what to do or even where to go for help. Sure, I knew about H5N1 and even about the Preparedness Plans from WHO and others, but it wasn’t practical enough when Bird Flu came to my door!

What I want to see happen on this blog and others is practical information be assembled and put forth in such a way that families can know for themselves how best to prepare. That is why I call this a Forecast. If I watch the weather forecast and it tells me it is going to rain, I can plan to take an umbrella with me. My hope is this blog can become a true Bird Flu Forecast. Join in!

You guys are right about adding your comments to any news items that you post on your blog.

Since most people are able to get the main news stories related to the H5N1 virus, from all kinds of media, there is frankly no point in simply posting a news items on its own, “without writing anything else”.

Glad to have you contribute to this important area of concern for all of us.
